How Much a Filipino Wedding Really Cost

How Much a Filipino Wedding Really Cost? Ever wondered why Filipino couples are a bit adamant about tying the knot? This is because marrying in the Philippines is not a straightforward thing. Here are some of the things that are needed along with estimated costs in securing them:

Birth certificate. You cannot file for a marriage license without your birth certificate. This is a standard requirement in applying for almost all government-related documents. You can go straight to the National Statistics Office or secure it from Serbilis Centers. It will cost you 150 pesos. You can also order it online, but you have to pay 315 pesos. However, if your birth certificate has discrepancies and needs to be corrected, like wrong gender or name, it will cost you a bit more money and time to correct them.

Baptismal certificate. If you are marrying in a church, this is one of the requirements. The prices vary as you will secure this from the church where you were baptized. It will bear a stamp that says, “for wedding purposes,” thus you cannot use your old copy.

Required documents for wedding

Certificate of no marriage (CENOMAR). This is a standard requirement, especially if you are marrying in a church. It is also required if you are marrying someone who is not from the Philippines. Your foreign partner will also need this if they are filing for a fiancé visa. If you want to skip the lines, you can order this online from e-Census at 415 pesos. However, if you have the time to fall in line, you can get a copy for 200 pesos only.

Marriage License. When you have secured the above mentioned documents, you are ready to file for a marriage license. This is filed in the municipality where you are to marry. The price varies from 250 to 350 pesos depending on the municipality.

Seminars. When you are opting for a church wedding, you need to attend seminars. There are local civil registry that requires seminars for family planning and counseling before they issue the marriage license.

Wedding venue. The price of the wedding venue also varies. If you are marrying in a church, it will cost you 5,000 to 30,000 pesos depending on the church. Some church offers a package price, which includes photo and video coverage, invitations and catering for around 140,000 to 200,000 pesos. Again, this depends on the church where you will hold the wedding ceremony.

Wedding reception

Wedding reception. If you opt for a restaurant, you can get a better deal. The price will vary depending on the type of the menu as well as location. There are restaurants that offer a package price of 45,000 pesos, good for 50 guests, including the rent of the venue. Be ready to spend more if you opt to have a garden wedding because you will be paying separately – the venue and the catering service.

Wedding gown and entourage attire

Wedding gown and entourage’s attire. By this time, you already have an idea of what the wedding theme will be. You will then have to look for a seamstress to make your wedding gown along with the gowns of the whole wedding entourage. This can range from 3,000 to 5,000 pesos for your wedding gown. The gowns of your wedding entourage will have a different quote from the seamstress. You can also go to bridal shops for their ready-to-wear wedding gowns and bridal entourage ensemble. Depending on the store, the cheapest you can get is from 1,000 to 2,500 per gown.

Wedding hair and makeup

Hair and makeup. Some couples tell their wedding entourage to take care of their own hair and makeup. Therefore, the bride usually gets an exclusive hair and makeup service for around 3,000 to 6,000 pesos. If you want to pay for the bridal entourage’s hair and makeup, this would cost you 10,000 to 20,000 pesos.

Wedding rings

Wedding ring. Of course, one of the most important jewelry during the wedding ceremony is the wedding ring. It is entirely up to you and your partner on what the type of ring you will buy. You can still get inexpensive gold wedding rings in China town so as not to break your wallet.

Wedding photo

Photo and Video coverage. Price ranges from 20,000 to 50,000 pesos, depending on the package you want. If someone from the family has a good camera and can take photos, you might as well ask for their help so you can save on your expenses.

Accommodation. If you have guests coming from overseas, you can opt to host them at your home or book them a hotel. This will cost you around 3,000 to 10,000 depending on the type of hotel.

Wedding invitation

Wedding invitations and favors. You can make your own wedding invitation if you have ample time. You can actually pay for a wedding invitation template and have your wedding invitation in a matter of minutes. Some catering agencies and restaurants offer wedding favors as part of their package. It is wise to avail this. You can also buy ready-made wedding souvenirs for the primary sponsors at the shopping malls.

The above mentioned estimated costs can overwhelm any couple. However, with the right planning and preparation, the couple can overcome these things. Ever wonder how your parents pulled it off? If they can, you can, too!
